Play Somethin' Sweet
Today I spent the day at my cousin-in-laws house helping them install hardwood floors. Eight hours in a house while the beautiful Pacific Northwest was regaled by the sun. I was, however, able to direct my commute from Capitol Hill Seattle. Down through Pioneer Square. Past Pike Place Market on over to West Lake Center, where I shot this photo (Sorry about the quality. The light changed). And finally out through the “U” District.
I considered a shot of the patina finished Thomas Jefferson crossing the street near the original Starbuck’s. I nearly took a picture of the mutton chop hipster, smoking his pipe as if God was on the other end. I settled on the seersucker clad, twelve foot boa toting, street… performer?
I’m not sure if he was collecting any pittance. I don’t even know if he really considered he was frightening nearly as many people as he was delighting. I just know he was spending the day doing what he enjoyed.
I thought about my day and the gorgeous oak floors. The time spent with a young couple expecting their first child soon. The chance to help and be productive. The sunroof open. The view of a snow covered Mount Baker as I traveled north. The day was spent just right.
